Message from F I A P

We, photographers, can enjoy of a greater awareness to all what surrounds us. We like to reflect trough the images taken with our camera, all what captivates our interest and sometimes also all what we think can be exciting to other persons.

It is so that in a very natural way, we have made a visual register of the landscapes, the ethics, the dresses and also of the people and the animals, the great leaders of life.

These are documents to keep for the history.

But in a occasional or continuous way, we have also made some creative photography, these which is intimated to us by our artistic uneasiness and by our imagination.

These two arguments are very important and the entirety of them will facilitate the appraisal of our work to the historians and the art critics, in the near or far future.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Photographic Society of Malaysia, has just now issued this Summary-Book of the best works of its authors, past or contemporary, to bring to light, in its own country and in all the other ones, its large contribution to the improvement of the photography. The Photographic Society of Malaysia, and all its photographers deserve our congratulation.

This book comes in due time, at the end of this twentieth century, time to establish the balance, which I consider as very positive.

We must hope that this valuable initiative will go ahead of other ones going in the same direction. We must bring to light all what the photographic societies are doing in our days to promote and bring fondness for the culture.

I wish you much courage to continue your important task and also a very happy 40th anniversary.

Very heartily yours.
